A Private Journey
Through Tokyo & Hakone

Ten unhurried days. Two cities. One quiet love letter to Japan — written together.

Culture·Calm·Connection

Overview

Slow mornings, mindful evenings, and the spaces in between.

A late-spring journey threaded around three quietly considered stays — a refined ryokan in Hakone bookended by two carefully chosen Tokyo neighbourhoods. The rhythm is intentionally soft: ceremonial matcha and tucked-away cafés, one steady afternoon of climbing, one slow day in an onsen town, and just enough Ginza to feel new clothes against new skin. Nothing rushed. Nothing performed.

Atmosphere

Small Cultural Notes

Ginza

The elegant historic centre

Once a silver mint, now an exercise in restraint. Visit on a weekend afternoon, when the main street goes pedestrian and the whole district reads like a long, slow gallery.

Harajuku & Meiji Shrine

Two Tokyos, one block apart

Step under the great torii into Meiji Jingu first — wide, hushed, cedar-scented. Then the contrast: Omotesando’s tree-lined catwalk and Harajuku’s gleeful noise.

Asakusa

Old Tokyo, soft-lit

Best visited late — after dusk, when Senso-ji glows and the alleys empty. Walk back across the river and let the lanterns guide you.

Hakone Onsen Etiquette

The bath, considered

Rinse fully at the showers first, every time. No swimwear, no towels in the water. Long hair tied up. Slow movements. Phones never. Tattoos: Hoshino KAI Hakone permits them, but ask.
